Teenager Charli D’Amelio is the second most followed TikTokers in the world right now with a whopping 145 million fans. She has made the world to take notice of her thanks to her videos of dance choreography. She is basking in the TikTok glory together with her sister Dixie D’Amelio.
One of her most popular TikToks of all time is her dancing to the song “Lottery (Renegade)” by the group K Camp. In October 2019, “Renegade” became a TikTok sensation, with Charli having played a central role. While her “Renegade” dances are the most popular, many other TikTokers have joined the party with their own versions.
The original choreographer of the “Renegade” dance was 14-year-old Jalaiah Harmon, whom Charli danced with last year.
Charli had already racked up mind-blowing numbers when she joined The Hype House in 2019, which was formed in Los Angeles. It was a joint project of TikTok’s mega stars, and newbies with dreams to hit the jackpot.
Charlie hails from Norwalk, Connecticut, where she grew up with her sister Dixie D’Amelio and her parents Marc and Heidi D’Amelio. Her father is a politician who unsuccessfully vied for Connecticut State Senate in 2018. They later moved to LA.
Before opening her TikTok account in June 2019, Charli was a competitive dancer and posted videos and photos from competitions on her Instagram.
When Charli started to take content generating seriously, she caught the attention of Sony Music executive Brabara Jones who took her under her company, Outshine Talent. She later teamed up with Talent Agency together with her family.
These engagements with top talent firms saw her became the first person to hit 100 million followers on TikTok.
She has also co-created and became the face of Social Tourist, a fashion brand under Hollister and has teamed up with Simmons Bedding Company to design and release the Charlie & Dixie x Simmons Mattress.
And that is not all for Charli’s road to success! She is also the first TikToker to star in a Super Bowl commercial and has even authored a book entitled Essentially Charli: The Ultimate Guide to Keeping It Real.
There is also a generous side to her. She keeps rallying her followers to donate to Carnival for a Cause, which benefits children with developmental disabilities, as well as Breathe for ALS.
All these have contributed to make her roaring success, becoming the darling of top global brands.
