Meet ICT Authority CEO leading plans for Connected Kenya summit set for April

Stanley Kamanguya is the new ICT Authority CEO and has spent the last few months organizing the Connected Kenya summit happening in Diani, Kwale County from April 2 to April 5. He talked to Afcacia recently:

 

Tell us about your background and experience in the ICT industry.

A: I’m an experienced Business and Information Technology leader with over a decade of experience in the ICT industry.

I’ms a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL V3 (Foundation), and a member of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and Project Management Institute (PMI).

I have worked as a consultant providing technical advice to the National Treasury on the implementation of Public Finance Systems, as well as a Manager in Technology Advisory at PwC Kenya.

In my most recent role as the Director of Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) at the Government of Kenya, National Treasury, I guided the delivery of budgeting, expenditure, and reporting on IFMIS both at the National and County Government levels.

What is your mission in the ICT Authority?

A: I currently serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ICT Authority, a State Corporation under the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy in Kenya.

Under my leadership, the Authority is tasked with enforcing ICT standards in the government and enhancing the supervision of its electronic communication.

The Authority’s mission is to champion and harness ICT to enable efficient and effective delivery of public service.

Where do you see the future of ICT in Kenya?

A: We have a vision dubbed “Impact90,” which aims to achieve a 90 percent contribution to the transformation of citizens’ livelihoods and the overall positive impact expected from the Digital Economy by harnessing ICT.  I believes that this will be achieved through working with the Authority’s stakeholders and developing innovative, cutting-edge solutions to support the digital economy.

How are you leading the ICT Authority towards this vision?

A: We are driving a high-performance culture across the ICT Authority with a keen focus on employee development and engagement. I’m adopting new business models and leveraging divergent teams’ strengths as well as partnerships for the Authority’s future growth and success. My focus on innovation and my ability to navigate complex challenges with confidence and grace makes me a true leader, and it is an honor to be at the helm of the ICT Authority.
