Moringa School has partnered with the Association of Fintechs in Kenya (AFIK) to offer specialized fintech courses aimed at equipping the Kenyan workforce with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly growing fintech sector.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlines key areas of collaboration that will benefit fintech professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and other stakeholders.
One of the major initiatives of this partnership is the creation of a joint advisory team, which will include representatives from both organizations. This team will work together to design and deliver industry-aligned fintech training programs, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The courses will be flexible, combining online and in-person workshops, and will culminate in a capstone project, offering hands-on learning experiences guided by industry experts.
In addition to training, Moringa School and AFIK aim to raise awareness about the importance of fintech skills development across Kenya. The collaboration will also establish a pipeline of skilled graduates ready to meet the growing talent demands of the fintech industry, with potential internship opportunities available for students.
“We are thrilled to partner with AFIK to provide Kenyans with the necessary skills to excel and lead in the dynamic fintech industry,” said Nikki Germany, CEO of Moringa School. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to closing the skills gap and fostering innovation within Kenya’s fintech ecosystem.”
Kiptum Kidombo, a board member of AFIK, emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying, “Fintech is transforming the financial industry in unprecedented ways, and having the right knowledge is essential for sustainable growth.”
Kenya is already a major player in Africa’s fintech landscape, with a 2023 report highlighting the country as having the third-largest number of active fintech startups on the continent.
The partnership aims to further strengthen Kenya’s fintech ecosystem by nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals.
