Google Doodle today celebrates International Women’s Day with animation honoring the multiple ways in which women support each other.
The vignettes within each “GOOGLE” letter highlight just a few of the many ways that women all over the world help each other advance and improve their quality of life.
“In honor of women across the globe who are supporting each other across all aspects of life — Happy International Women’s Day!” Said the doodle.
This day is dedicated to recognizing women’s contributions to society, and their cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements, and to advocating for gender equality, equal pay, and an end to discrimination against women.
The day also advocates for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world where differences are celebrated.
When you click on the Doodle, purple confetti falls on the screen and women move from the right end of the screen towards the left, raising purple flags. They are also wearing while wearing purple wristbands.

They wore Suffragette purple, white and green colors (otherwise known as the tricolor) and lifted banners during the protests.
According to the International Women’s Day website “Embrace Equity” is this year’s theme which aims to raise awareness of the difference between equity and equality; and the importance of gender equity.
“The focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA, and the campaign aims to get the world talking about “Why equal opportunities aren’t enough.”
