The Bolt Accelerator Program, launched in April 2024, has successfully concluded in Kenya, awarding the top 10 drivers and couriers with $2,228 (over KES 280,000) each in seed funding for their innovative business ideas. The initiative, organized by Bolt, a leading mobility company in Africa, aims to empower drivers to transform bold, sustainable transport concepts into reality.
The awards ceremony took place at Sarova Stanley Hotel in collaboration with The Nest Innovation Technology Park.
The program received over 800 applications from Kenyan drivers and couriers, with 120 entrepreneurs being shortlisted for the Bolt Academy—a phase dedicated to business skills training. From this group, the top 20 finalists advanced to exclusive mentorship sessions with industry experts, further preparing them for Pitch Day.
During Pitch Day, finalists presented a wide range of innovative ideas to a panel of judges, including Linda Ndungu, General Manager of Rides at Bolt, and Maryanne Akoth, Director of Programs at Strathmore Business School. The pitches showcased creative solutions, including electric vehicle charging stations, accessible vehicles for people with disabilities, and tech-driven last-mile delivery solutions.

The top 10 winners will now participate in a transformative six-week post-mentorship program, providing them with continued guidance and access to a network of industry experts to propel their businesses forward.
Among the notable awardees were Adrian Kagiri Amunga (Most Innovative Idea), Antony Gwaro Nyangaresi (Most Scalable Idea), and Teddy Muthami Muriithi (Best Pitch).
“To the winners, your dedication and creativity have rightfully earned you this recognition, along with $2,200 in seed funding. We are eager to see where your entrepreneurial journey leads from here,” added Linda Ndungu
