As Wetech, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in the tech industry, celebrates its fifth anniversary, it prepares to host its annual flagship event—the Wetech 2024 Conference.
Set for September 28, 2024, at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, this year’s conference promises to be a milestone event, gathering over 1,500 women from across Africa’s tech ecosystem.
Under the theme “5 Years of Women Redefining Technology and Entrepreneurship,” the conference aims to celebrate Wetech’s achievements while setting the stage for future innovations and leadership driven by women in technology.
The Wetech 2024 Conference offers an array of inspiring keynote addresses, thought-provoking panel discussions, and exciting competitions.
Industry leaders will share their insights, offering advice on how women can shape the future of tech. Topics such as venture capital, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, machine learning, and cybersecurity will be explored
The PitchHER startup competition is one of the highlights of the event, giving female entrepreneurs a platform to pitch their innovative ideas. The winner will take home a ₦4 million prize, courtesy of Flutterwave. The top three startups will also get free access to SpurtX for a year, offering them the tools to scale and grow.
Women-led companies will showcase cutting-edge technologies, and participants will have opportunities to connect with industry experts, hiring organizations, and other tech enthusiasts. The event will be a melting pot of ideas, collaboration, and career-building possibilities.
This year’s conference boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, Adora Nwodo, Senior Software Engineer, will deliver a keynote address on “How Data Keeps the Lights On.”
Her expertise in cloud engineering and her work as Vice President of Nigeria’s VRAR Association will set the tone for inspiring discussions. Samira Nwaturuocha, Folake Owodunni, and Antoinette Edodo will lead the Main Stage Panel on “Strategies for Career Advancement in Tech.”
With over 18 years of experience in governance and security, Nwaturuocha’s insights will be invaluable. Meanwhile, Owodunni and Edodo bring diverse expertise from healthcare and fintech, respectively.
A Breakout Panel on “Sustainable Business Practices for African Startups” will feature industry leaders like Amaka Okechukwu Opara and Atinuke Idowu, both of whom have played pivotal roles in investing in startups and guiding SMEs.
