The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has extended its social media banking on Instagram through its Chat Banking Platform Leo.
‘Leo’ on Instagram allows Kenyans to sign up for accounts, request for mini statement, top-up airtime, transfers money to account or M-Pesa, check user balance and live chat the Bank’s Customer Fulfilment Centre.
UBA Group launched WhatsApp and Facebook Chat Banking service dubbed ‘Leo’ in Kenya in July 2018 which was a first in this market.
UBA Bank is looking to attract more millennials and the Gen Z market through social media banking services that meet the lifestyle of the youth in Kenya.
“Today we launch the UBA Chat Banking Platform ‘Leo’ on Instagram to mark yet another great milestone for UBA in the banking sector,” said Chike Isiuwe, UBA Kenya Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
“With over 2.7million Instagram users in Kenya today, this innovative solution is aimed at attracting the youth by making banking fun and accessible.”
UBA becomes the first bank in Kenya, to offer social media banking that enables customers to execute transactions on Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Google Chat.
To enjoy Instagram Chat Banking services, one is required to open an account with UBA Bank and the account linked to the IG platform. Subsequently search for the ‘officialubachatbanking’ verified handle on Instagram and simply send a direct message (DM) to Leo to begin the enrollment process. Leo will then take you through a set of requirements before the service is granted, making it convenient to transact on IG.
Existing customers can directly access and transact via the ‘officialubachatbanking’ handle on Instagram. Leo is also available on Apple Messages for the IPhone users. The Leo Chat banking Platform available on Facebook, WhatsApp, Google Chat and now on Instagram is enhanced with the UBA Secure Pass Feature which provides a passcode for added security when transacting on any of the above social media platforms.
“As a Bank, innovation through technology remains a key driver for enhanced customer experience which is central to the Banks’ strategy. We continue to drive disruptive solutions to further entrench our vision to be the undisputed, leading and dominant financial services institution in Africa,” noted Mr Isiuwe.
