SunCulture, a pioneer in solar-powered irrigation, has partnered with Turaco Microinsurance Company (T/A Turaco), Africa’s leading provider of mass-market insurance solutions, to introduce “SunCulture Protect.” This innovative insurance product aims to bolster the resilience of smallholder farmers using SunCulture’s pay-as-you-go (PAYG) devices, offering them affordable health and life insurance amid the growing challenges posed by climate change.

As climate change intensifies, African communities are facing increasingly severe weather events, which disrupt livelihoods, worsen health outcomes, and push millions into poverty.

Health-related financial shocks already affect 14 million people annually in Africa, a number expected to grow by an additional 10 million due to climate-driven impacts. “SunCulture Protect” addresses this urgent need by providing vital health and life coverage, ensuring farmers and their families are protected against medical and financial hardships.

“At SunCulture, our mission is to empower smallholder farmers to grow more food and improve their quality of life,” said Samir Ibrahim, CEO of SunCulture. “This partnership with Turaco extends our vision by offering not only sustainable energy solutions but also financial security and peace of mind to our customers and their families.”

Turaco CEO Ted Pantone echoed the sentiment: “Affordable insurance should be accessible to everyone, especially those most vulnerable to climate change. Through this partnership, we are equipping farmers with essential coverage to safeguard their livelihoods and build long-term resilience.”

The collaboration combines SunCulture’s expertise in innovative agricultural technology with Turaco’s leadership in accessible insurance, marking a significant step towards securing the future of Africa’s smallholder farmers.
