WhatsApp to launch new feature known as Newsletter

With the feature, one can easily receive useful updates from an undefined and large number of people and groups like local officials, sports teams, or other organizations.

Mobile device malware is one of the biggest threats to people’s privacy and security today because it can take advantage of your phone without your permission and use your WhatsApp to send unwanted messages.

WhatsApp is now working on a new feature called ‘Newsletter’, findings of  Wabetainfo, have stated.

The Meta-owned firm has been introducing new features to the app, with WhatsApp Communities, which enable users to bring related groups together, being the recent update.

According to the findings, the feature, which is currently under development was discovered in a code, in beta version 2.23.5.3 of WhatsApp Messenger for Android.

However, the feature is still in the early development stage and the firm has not yet confirmed when it will be available for beta testers.

According to the website, with ‘Newsletter’, one can easily receive useful updates from an undefined and large number of people and groups like local officials, sports teams, or other organizations.

“Users will be able to choose who they want to hear from and follow broadcasters of their choice right within WhatsApp,” stated the findings.

The privacy that comes with the end-to-end encryption will not extend to Newsletters, because of the one-way and one-to-many design of the feature.

Fortunately, the identity of users who create and subscribe to a newsletter will be protected as their telephone numbers will be masked and hidden.

The feature will be available within the Status tab, separate and also optional.

‘Newsletter’ will not affect the end-to-end encryption of private messaging.
