Netflix has raised its subscription prices in Nigeria for the second time this year

Just three months after the last price increase, an American streaming service that offers subscription-based video on demand Netflix has yet again  raised subscription Its fees in Nigeria.

This new hike is going to  impact all subscription plans, with notable increases across the board the Standard plan, previously priced at N4,000, has risen by 37.5% to N5,500  per month. The Premium plan has also increased to N7,000 per month, up from N5,000. Which is the only plan  that offers Ultra HD quality for viewing on four devices simultaneously and also allow downloads on six devices.

With the rise in the prices of all the four subscription plans. The Mobile plan now costs N2,200 , up 83% from  N1,200, and allows one user at a time on a mobile device. The Basic plan has also increased to N3,500  per month, up from N2,900.

Netflix stated on their website that ,‘‘If your price is changing, Netflix will send you an email with details about the price change one month before the billing date on which your price will increase,” Netflix said on its website. “As we continue to add more TV shows and movies and introduce new product features, our plans and prices may change. We also may adjust plans and pricing to respond to local market changes, such as changes to local taxes or inflation. “it added.

On its website, Netflix explained that the price adjustments are meant to reflect local market conditions, including taxes and inflation. Other streaming services, like Multichoice’s  Showmax, also raised their subscription fees earlier in the year, leading to significant public backlash.
