Boda boda riders can now access suitable and reliable insurance covers thanks to a recent partnership between a digital insurance provider, Lami Technologies and Unchorlight Kenya (UNK).
By collaborating with Lami, UNK can offer the riders motorcycle insurance and personal accident coverage. Therefore, helping riders to comply with the law by saving slow issuance of motorcycle certificates and policy documents.
UNK delivers a rent-to-own model finance service known as ZARIBEE for boda boda riders.
The fintech mobility company finance service gives riders access to affordable digital credit, enabling them to own bikes and also supporting them to create a reliable community in which they grow together.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unchorlight, Renji Morita said the firm aims to expand Kenya’s boda boda sector.
The CEO noted the partnership with Lami Technologies, “will bring digital insurance solutions that will not only promote an inclusive society but will also benefit riders and passengers, plus the economy.”
Head of Business Growth, Lami Technologies Waithera Thinguri, said the insurance gap in the sector should be bridged, as the segment is a critical transport system in the country.
“With thousands of people using boda boda’s daily, our digital insurance platform integrated into this solution will have a substantial and positive impact on driving inclusive growth for riders in Kenya,” she said.
