DigiTax, an eTims tax compliance platform developed by Kenya’s Namiri Technology, has officially launched its services in Zambia. As part of this expansion, the company has appointed Gilbert Hlucwayo Lungu as the Country Manager for its Zambian operations.

DigiTax’s entry into Zambia comes at a critical time, following the recent adoption of electronic invoicing regulations under the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act No. 27 of 2023. Starting from July 1, 2024, Zambian businesses are required to comply with Smart Invoice regulations. DigiTax is set to play a key role in supporting local companies by providing solutions that simplify the transition to these new e-invoicing requirements.

Caine Wanjau, CEO of Namiri Technology Limited, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating,

”Our expansion into Zambia represents a significant milestone for DigiTax, we are excited to bring our expertise in e-invoicing and tax compliance to support Zambian businesses as they navigate these new regulatory requirements.”

DigiTax’s platform offers a range of features designed to streamline compliance, including system-to-system integration, a user-friendly dashboard, and full adherence to Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) regulations. The platform aims to make the shift to Smart Invoices seamless for businesses across Zambia.

Leading the Zambian operations, Gilbert Lungu brings over 15 years of senior management experience in B2B sales across multiple sectors, including telecommunications, financial technology, corporate internet, and computer software. His career highlights include senior roles such as Sales and Marketing Manager at MTN Business Zambia, Head of Enterprise Sales at Airtel Zambia, and Country Manager at Cellulant Zambia.

Welcoming Lungu to the team, Thuku wa Thuku, COO of Namiri Technology Limited, said,‘‘We are thrilled to welcome Gilbert to the DigiTax team, his extensive experience in the Zambian technology sector, vast network, and proven track record in building successful sales operations make him the ideal leader for our expansion into this market.”

Beyond his corporate career, Gilbert Lungu has made significant contributions to the fintech industry, having served as the founding chairman of the Payments Association of Zambia (FINTECH Association) for three years. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors Zambia and an associate member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing.
