Roam, a trailblazer in Kenya’s electric mobility sector, has earned a prestigious spot on the 2024 Impact/100 list, a global ranking of the most innovative and transformative startups.

Curated by the Norrsken Foundation, in partnership with over 40 venture capital firms and NGOs—including the Obama Foundation and the World Fund—the Impact/100 highlights companies reshaping industries and driving positive global change. Roam’s recognition signals Africa’s growing influence in advancing sustainability, particularly in the transportation sector.

Chosen from more than 1,200 startups worldwide, Roam distinguished itself as one of the top 100 companies addressing critical global challenges through clean, affordable transport solutions across Africa.

“This isn’t just an accolade—it’s a call to action. We are committed to revolutionizing transportation in Africa by making electric mobility a reality and showing that sustainability can be a part of everyday journeys,” said Roam CEO Filip Lövström in a press statement. “This recognition fuels our mission to continue pushing boundaries.”

The company’s work directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on reducing carbon emissions (Goal 13: Climate Action), promoting sustainable urban transport (Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities), and fostering economic growth and job creation (Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth).

The announcement coincided with the conclusion of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), whose theme, “Leaving No One Behind,” resonated deeply with Roam’s mission to make electric mobility accessible and sustainable for all.

Adding to the excitement, Roam’s logo will be featured on NASDAQ’s iconic Times Square billboard in New York City, alongside other Impact/100 honorees such as AirForestry, Rology, Shara, Smartex, and Fleet Zero.

As one of the largest billboards in the world, NASDAQ’s 10,000-square-foot display will showcase Roam’s rising status in the global electric mobility space and underscore its pivotal role in transforming transportation at scale.

The Impact/100 list is more than just a ranking; it serves as a platform for startups with bold ideas capable of shaping the future. Compiled with input from global partners such as Breakthrough Energy, MIT/The Engine, Atomico, Khosla Ventures, and the UNDP, the list celebrates ventures that could impact over a billion lives. Roam, along with the other honorees, is at the forefront of using breakthrough technology to create lasting, meaningful change.

Other Kenyan firms featured in the Impact/100 list are African Management Institute, Credrails and Shara.
