Ecobank Uganda Limited has announced a strategic partnership with Ria Money Transfer, a global leader in cross-border remittance services. This collaboration is set to revolutionize remittance options across Uganda, providing customers with greater convenience and accessibility in receiving funds from abroad.

Under this new partnership, Ecobank account holders and non-account holders alike can now receive funds directly into their Ecobank accounts or opt to collect cash transfers promptly at any of the bank’s branches across Uganda. Additionally, the partnership extends its reach through Ecobank’s extensive sub-agent network, ensuring that even those in remote areas can easily access remittance services.

Ms. Grace Muliisa, Managing Director of Ecobank Uganda, highlighted the significance of this partnership for Ugandans both at home and in the diaspora, particularly in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East. She emphasized that the collaboration with Ria Money Transfer addresses the growing demand for seamless financial solutions among Africans living abroad.

“There is a growing need to provide seamless financial solutions to Africans in the diaspora. We are excited to collaborate with Ria Money Transfer to enhance the security and efficiency of remittance services for all Ugandans,” said Ms. Muliisa. She also pointed out that this partnership aligns with Ecobank’s mission to offer unmatched convenience in global funds transfer services, further solidifying its position as a trusted financial partner for the Ugandan diaspora.

Mr. El Hadj Malick Seck, Managing Director of Ria Money Transfer – Africa, echoed the positive impact of the partnership, noting its importance in Ria’s operations in East Africa, particularly Uganda. With over 580,000 physical locations in nearly 200 countries, Ria Money Transfer’s network is one of the largest in the world. The addition of Ecobank Uganda to this network ensures that Ugandans will experience even greater convenience when sending money to their families back home.

“This partnership provides an invaluable service to Ugandans abroad who want to support their loved ones at home. It also strengthens our commitment to enhancing financial inclusion and access across Africa,” said Mr. Seck.

This partnership between Ecobank Uganda and Ria Money Transfer is poised to have a significant impact on the financial landscape in Uganda, providing more accessible and efficient remittance services to the population. By offering multiple options for receiving funds, the partnership ensures that both the urban and rural populations of Uganda can benefit from these services, further promoting financial inclusion across the country.

As Ecobank Uganda continues to expand its digital banking services and Ria Money Transfer broadens its global reach, this collaboration marks a critical step forward in providing Ugandans with the financial tools they need to stay connected with their loved ones, no matter where they are in the world.
