The program will support 72 startups across Kenya and Nigeria for the next three years.

The initiative aims to increase the effect of ed-tech firms and encourage founders that provide technological answers to tackle learning innovation in a field of education plagued by a myriad of problems.

Africa’s largest innovation hub, Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) has launched a $15 million accelerator program named “The Edtech Fellowship Program.”

According to Techloy, the program will support 72 startups across Kenya and Nigeria for the next three years.

During the program, these start-ups will receive an initial capital of $100,000.

The initiative aims to increase the effect of ed-tech firms and encourage founders that provide technological answers to tackle learning innovation in a field of education plagued by a myriad of problems.

A report by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) dubbed the Global Education Monitoring report, “The sub-Saharan region has the most children out of school with about 98 million children and young people excluded from education.”

Targeted start-ups will be from Kenya and Nigeria. These two countries are the biggest ed-tech markets in Africa.

The two countries also have fund solutions that play outside of tutorial apps and platforms emphasizing rote learning.

The company aims to help ed-tech startups by providing shared resources, such as a product development team, government relations team, pedagogy and learning science team.

In addition, it seeks to achieve a portfolio management team, communication team, instructional design team and community building team.

CcHUB is optimistic about discovering such solutions across K-12, tertiary, and skills-to-jobs markets.
