Roam, an e-mobility firm that designs and develops electric vehicles has partnered with Hitachi Europe Ltd. (Hitachi), a Japanese multinational company that supports green transportation across Africa.
The collaboration will catalyze electrification in Kenya hence growth in the numbers of electric buses and motorcycles.
According to the firm, the partnership was achieved via The Earthshot Prize, a global environmental prize to discover, accelerate and scale ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet; where Roam was a finalist in the ‘clean our air’ category, in 2022.
The award was founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in 2020.
Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, of Hitachi Europe Ltd, Chris Saul said the firm aims at providing solutions to decarbonize the transport sector from road to rail as the segment accounts for around one-fifth of global emissions.
Mr Saul who was also the Earthshot Prize Finalist Advisor for Roam said the two firms share the vision of achieving a net-zero society.
