Greenspoon teams up with Roam for rapid, eco-friendly deliveries

Roam, Kenya’s premier electric mobility company, and online retailer of organic food Greenspoon, have announced their new partnership aimed at offering a fully sustainable food delivery service.

This collaboration, part of GreenspoonGo’s ultra-fast delivery service launched in February 2023, is set to transform the food delivery landscape in Kenya by combining the efficiency of Roam Air electric motorcycles with Greenspoon’s dedication to fresh, local, and sustainable produce.

With the introduction of Roam Air, Greenspoon hopes its customers will experience a significant enhancement in delivery speed. Orders will now arrive in under 99 minutes, a substantial reduction from the previous delivery time of up to 3 hours, ensuring that customers receive their pantry essentials and fresh produce more quickly.

The Roam Air motorbike features a waterproof storage tank and a robust frame, allowing it to handle up to 15 Greenspoon orders per day. Its removable dual battery system, along with a portable charger, enables Greenspoon riders to charge the motorcycles at any power outlet, including at the warehouse, thus minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation.

“Our partnership represents a shared commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable planet. By leveraging the latest in electric motorcycle technology, our partnership is helping to reduce carbon emissions and provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional delivery services,” said Dionne Getata, Roam’s Sales Operations Manager.

Each Roam Air motorcycle, according to a press statement, will be equipped with three batteries, providing a range of over 225 kilometres when fully charged. This setup allows riders to complete up to 195 orders daily.

With these advancements, Greenspoon aims to expand its service reach, currently serving over 3,500 customers through its mobile app and website.

Roam Air’s zero-emission design and capacity to carry up to 220 kilos make it an ideal choice for a sustainable delivery solution, aligning perfectly with Greenspoon’s mission to reduce carbon footprints and support local farmers and artisans. Additionally, GreenspoonGo consolidated orders along similar routes to further cut down on environmental impact.

“Roam and Greenspoon is a match made in heaven for going green for the world. Here’s to a net zero future,” Elijah Karanja, Greenspoon’s Operations Manager said.

With this new delivery solution, customers stand to enjoy a seamless shopping experience. Whether it’s fresh produce, gourmet ingredients, or everyday essentials, Greenspoon says, customers can count on receiving their purchases in record time, all while contributing to a cleaner and greener future.
