Diaspora Tech Partnership Conference to take place in Nairobi

In an era of rapid technological advancement, Kenya has emerged as a vibrant hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. The country is home to a growing number of startups, driven by a young and dynamic population eager to harness the power of technology.

Recognizing the potential of this burgeoning sector, the Diaspora Tech Conference has been established as a key event to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and boost the growth of Kenyan startups.

The One Voice Consortium a collective organization uniting institutions and entities from the Kenyan diaspora has planned the Diaspora Tech Partnership Conference for September 18-19 at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. This event will gather technology experts from around the globe to exchange ideas with Kenyan tech professionals.

This conference is not just about networking; it is an opportunity to bridge the gap between local startups and the global tech ecosystem. It  aims to empower Kenyan startups by providing them with access to new markets, funding opportunities, and the latest technological advancements.

According to One Voice Consortium (OVC) president Robert Chiuri,“the conference aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange and partnership between the Kenyan diaspora, local tech stakeholders, policymakers and government officials at the national and county level, investors and industry leaders.’’

“As a foundation of several diaspora organizations working abroad but with representatives from Kenya, we want to give back to our country of birth. We want to exchange ideas and lift Kenyan startups through innovation and latest technology,” said Dr Chiuri.

The theme of the conference is “Harnessing the Power of Diaspora for Growth,” and it aims to facilitate the formation of profitable partnerships between investors and industry leaders.

Geoffrey Ouma, chairman of the Kenya-USA Tech Forum (KUSAT), mentioned that during the September conference, attendees will present and have the chance to engage with leaders and investors present at the event.

The Diaspora Tech Conference is more than just an event; it is a catalyst for change. By harnessing the collective expertise and resources of the Kenyan diaspora and global tech community, the conference is paving the way for a new era of innovation and growth for Kenyan startups. As the country continues to embrace technology, events like these are crucial in ensuring that Kenyan startups not only survive but thrive on the global stage.

It will also provide a valuable platform for networking and sharing knowledge. The conference is a melting pot of ideas and opportunities. By bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, it encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Startups can connect with potential mentors, partners, and investors who can help them scale their businesses. The presence of members of the Kenyan diaspora, who have established themselves in various tech sectors globally, provides a wealth of knowledge and resources that can be leveraged to support local venture.

Kenyan government agencies such as Konza City, the Kenya Tourism Board, and the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) will be participating in the conference.
