Veeam has integrated with Palo Alto Networks to strengthen data security

VeeamSoftware, a global leader in data resilience, has announced a significant new integration with Palo Alto Networks, a top name in cybersecurity. This collaboration introduces a streamlined approach for organizations to protect their backup data and rapidly respond to cyber threats.

The integration of Veeam’s applications with Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex platform aims to centralize security operations and reinforce the resilience of critical business data.

With cyberattacks, particularly ransomware, becoming increasingly targeted toward backup data, Veeam’s new apps, now integrated with Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR platforms, offer businesses an advanced solution for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents.

These apps use bi-directional APIs to ensure that any security threat to business-critical backup data is addressed in real time, empowering organizations to bolster their security postures proactively

. The integration marks Veeam as the first partner to independently develop a data collector, dashboards, and reports specifically for Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM platform.

This brings an innovative level of automation to security operations, helping to reduce alert fatigue, accelerate incident response, and ensure the continued protection of vital data backups.

“Cyber threats are a reality for every single organization. It takes teamwork to fight this escalating battle against ransomware. We are excited to integrate with Palo Alto Networks to provide customers with capabilities to further strengthen their data resilience,” said Dave Russell, SVP of Strategy at Veeam. “This powerful integration enables our 550,000 customers to better protect their backups and respond to cyberattacks faster, tightening their security posture and helping to ensure reliable, rapid and trusted recovery.”

According to the Veeam 2024 Ransomware Trends Report, 96% of ransomware attacks specifically target an organization’s backups, underscoring the critical need for businesses to implement advanced security strategies. Traditional tools often overwhelm security teams with alerts and manual processes, but the Veeam and Palo Alto Networks integration simplifies and automates the incident response process.

Organizations can now obtain a comprehensive view of security across their environments, including Veeam environments, to improve situational awareness and halt potential threats.

The integration leverages AI-powered automation to reduce alert fatigue and speed up incident investigation, ensuring a timely response to security threats in Veeam environments.

The pre-configured dashboards and monitoring features enable organizations to easily set up and integrate the Veeam apps with their existing security infrastructure. The new integration offers the ability to monitor and manage large-scale environments without overwhelming security teams, thanks to advanced automation powered by artificial intelligence.

With automated ransomware recovery and monitoring, organizations can meet regulatory requirements while maintaining optimal recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTO and RPO).

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Veeam, empowering organizations to respond and react more quickly to threats facing their critical data,” said Pamela Cyr, VP of Technical Partnerships at Palo Alto Networks. “By combining the power of Palo Alto Networks industry-leading AI-driven SOC platform with data resilience capabilities from Veeam we can help customers identify and respond to threats, ensuring the resilience of business-critical data. The new integration demonstrates our shared commitment to providing organizations with tools and technologies that help them proactively combat evolving cyber threats and strengthen their security posture.”

As organizations continue to face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, the need for robust, integrated solutions is more crucial than ever. With the Veeam and Palo Alto Networks integration, businesses gain access to tools designed to not only protect their backups but also ensure their systems can bounce back quickly after an attack, a concept Veeam calls “radical resilience.”

“Many enterprises have over 100 security products, leading to the cumbersome task of cybersecurity system integration. Veeam and Palo Alto Networks are alleviating this burden through their strategic partnership, offering a comprehensive solution that scales with the size of the enterprise while maintaining data resilience,” said Frank Dickson, Group Vice President of IDC’s Security & Trust Practice.

The new Veeam apps integrated with Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR are now available at no extra cost for Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium customers. The app integrated with Cortex XSOAR is currently available in the Cortex Marketplace, while the app integrated with Cortex XSIAM will be available soon.

These integrations will be showcased at the upcoming VeeamON Data Resilience Summit on October 1 and 2, 2024, where industry experts and security leaders will discuss the future of data resilience and how to combat modern cyber threats effectively.

Veeam is a global leader in data resilience, trusted by over 550,000 customers worldwide, including 74% of the Global 2000. The company provides innovative solutions that help organizations protect, manage, and recover their data in cloud, virtual, physical, SaaS, and Kubernetes environments.
