Local restaurants feted at Bolt Food’s second edition of the Restaurant Awards

Bolt Food, Kenya’s leading online delivery platform, has, for the second year running, feted local restaurants during the annual Restaurant Awards. The awards provide an opportunity for Bolt to recognise and appreciate their partner restaurants for their commitment to quality, provision of outstanding services and professionalism. It is also an avenue for Bolt to promote the restaurants on its platform, thus offering them growth opportunities and an avenue to attract more customers.
This year, the Restaurant Awards were conducted differently from the previous year, as customers were allowed to vote for their favourite local restaurants. The first selection of the eligible restaurants was based on popularity on the platform (measured by the number of orders and customer feedback offered in 2022). In the second phase, customers were allowed to vote for their favourite restaurants. The voting system was implemented on the premise that food is an integral part of the local community and therefore, it was important for Bolt customers to acknowledge the role restaurants play in their everyday life, bringing the joy of sharing great meals with loved ones and friends.
“The Food & Beverages, as well as the food delivery industry in general, has been through tough times in the last three years. After being hit by the pandemic, restaurant owners are now challenged by high energy bills, the cost of living crisis and rising inflation,” said Edgar Kitur, Bolt Food Country Manager.
“Bolt Food has faced those challenges together with restaurant owners, providing them with the right tools and solutions to keep the business going and growing in these challenging times. The Restaurant Awards is our way of thanking our partners for their determination, creativity and for bringing the joy of food to people’s homes via the Bolt Food app.”
This year’s winners in the various categories include Loved by Locals: The Big Fish; Hidden Gem: Afi Pork House; Rising Star: Zucchini Green Grocer; Never Gonna Give You Up: Galito’s; Treat Yourself: Cold Stone.
Others are Vegetarian: Chowpaty; Best Value for Money: Chicken Inn; Early Bird: Java House; The King of KE Cuisine: Kilimanjaro; and Lunchtime Fave: Fogo Gaucho Kilimani
“We are very grateful to our clients for voting for The Big fish restaurant. Their appreciation helps us grow and gives us the resources to face obstacles in the industry. Bolt food is a great partner, helping us showcase our products to a wider audience, taking the logistical hassle of delivery off our hands and thus allowing us to focus on what matters; offering people the best dishes we can.” said John G.G, General Manager, The Big Fish.
Adding to the winners’ sentiments, Jonny Zanrosso, Director Fogo Gaucho said, “Receiving the Lunchtime Favourite award and the fact that our customers voted for us means a lot. Our restaurant was created out of love for food and we want to give back this love to everyone who has ever tried our menu. Thanks to Bolt Food we can focus on this and let them drive our presence on the platform.”
Since its launch, Bolt Food has continued to experience sustained growth in the industry. Currently, Bolt Food has over 1,600 restaurants on its platform and it provides earning opportunities to over 5,000 couriers in Nairobi and its metropolis. Bolt Food recently expanded to Mombasa City, as a testament to the company’s commitment to offering affordable, safe and sustainable products and services to all its clients, and has great plans to expand to other cities and towns across Kenya.
