Glovo names Shiro Theuri as new CTO

Glovo, the Spanish on-demand delivery platform, has announced the appointment of Shiro Theuri as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In her new role, Theuri will be tasked with leading Glovo’s global technology strategy, driving innovation, and enhancing the platform’s user experience across the 23 countries where the company operates.

Theuri’s promotion comes after a successful tenure as Glovo’s Senior Director of Engineering, a position she has held since 2022. During this time, she played a pivotal role in advancing Glovo’s technological infrastructure and guiding her teams to implement solutions that improved the platform’s efficiency and user satisfaction.

As CTO, Theuri will be responsible for strengthening Glovo’s technology and innovation capabilities, focusing on creating a seamless experience for customers, couriers, and partners alike. Her leadership will be crucial as Glovo continues to expand its operations and solidify its position as a leader in the global delivery market.

Oscar Pierre, co-founder and CEO of Glovo, expressed his confidence in Theuri’s ability to lead the company’s technology division. “Since joining Glovo, Shiro has proven herself to be an ambitious and skilled leader. Her ability to inspire her team and drive innovation has been instrumental in our growth. I’m excited to see how her vision will help us build the largest online marketplace across the 1,500 cities we serve.”

Before joining Glovo, Theuri held several senior engineering roles in Kenya, where she established herself as a key player in the tech industry. Her experience includes serving as Vice-President of Engineering at Sendy, an end-to-end fulfillment platform, and as CTO of FrontlineSMS, a mobile campaign messaging service. These roles equipped her with a deep understanding of technology’s role in scaling businesses and delivering exceptional user experiences.

In addition to her professional achievements, Theuri is passionate about mentoring and empowering women in technology. She has consistently advocated for greater diversity in the tech industry and intends to continue this work in her new role at Glovo. “I’m excited to use my position to support diversity in technology and build the best tech team in Europe,” Theuri said. “My goal is to ensure we continue to deliver excellence in our customer experience while advancing our technology and data strategies to scale our platform in all our markets.”

The appointment of Shiro Theuri as CTO marks a significant step forward for Glovo as the company continues to innovate and expand in the competitive delivery market. Her leadership and vision are expected to drive the company’s growth and set new standards for technological excellence in the industry.
