Airtel Africa announces CFO transition and new appointment

In a significant leadership shift, Airtel Africa PLC, a prominent telecommunications and mobile money services provider across 14 African nations, has announced that Chief Financial Officer Jaideep Paul will step down later this year. The announcement follows Paul’s transformative tenure, which saw him play a pivotal role in steering the company’s financial operations and strategies.

Paul is set to transition to a new role within the broader Bharti Group, Airtel’s parent company, following the company’s annual general meeting in July. His departure comes at a time when Airtel Africa continues to expand its influence as a key driver of digital connectivity and financial inclusion on the continent.

To ensure a smooth transition, Airtel Africa has named Kamal Dua, currently serving as Deputy CFO, as Paul’s successor. Dua, with a robust track record in financial management and strategic planning, is well-positioned to lead the company’s financial direction. His appointment reflects Airtel Africa’s commitment to maintaining its financial stability and scaling its operations across its diverse markets.

Under Paul’s leadership, Airtel Africa achieved remarkable milestones, including its successful listing on the London and Nigerian stock exchanges and significant growth in its mobile money operations. As the company navigates the evolving telecommunications landscape, Dua is expected to build on this momentum, overseeing financial strategies that align with Airtel Africa’s mission of connecting millions across the continent.

The leadership transition comes as Airtel Africa continues to strengthen its position as a vital player in Africa’s digital economy. With increasing investments in infrastructure and innovations in mobile financial services, the company remains a cornerstone in bridging the connectivity gap across rural and urban communities.

This announcement highlights Airtel Africa’s ongoing commitment to strong governance and its vision to advance digital and financial inclusion in Africa. The company’s leadership team, led by CEO Segun Ogunsanya, has reiterated its confidence in Dua’s ability to lead Airtel Africa’s financial strategies during its next growth phase.

As Africa’s telecommunications sector grows in importance on the global stage, Airtel Africa’s seamless transition of leadership underscores its dedication to resilience and excellence in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
